Welcome


 

Objective

  • To expose students to the real working environment and work situations in the hospitality industry.
  • To enable students to have hands on experience in their related fields, which would what has been taught.
  • To enable students to get acquainted with the organization structure, business operations and administrative functions.
  • To foster cooperation and to develop synergetic collaboration between industry and the university in promoting a knowledgeable society.
  • To set the stage for future recruitment by potential employers.


 

Requirements
The duration of the training is 12 - 24 weeks. Attempted at least 60 credit hours of subject.

  • It is strongly recommended not to go for training if you other subjects to be taken next trimester since Industrial Training can be taken in any trimester as long as you fulfill the requirements.


 

Placement

  • Student must look for placement on their own (preferably in their hometown area).
  • Student must find out about the contact info of the company and called them first before apply sending any letters. Find out whether they accept any trainees or not.
  • The company should be an Hospitality Company.
  • It is strongly recommended that student search at least 5 or more companies.
  • After verbal confirmation, you need to send these documents to the company.
    • Application letter (cover letter)
    • Resume or CV
    • Reply Form (this is an empty form which the company return to me as a prove of acceptance)
    • Support letter (a letter that will prove you are Kolej MASA students which can be signed by Internship Coordinator on behalf of CDP Director)


 

Task/Assignment/Project

  • The company is required to assign you a task or project.
  • You will need to write a daily log.


 

Grading

There grade is only Pass or Fail and the passing mark is 50. The grade for Industrial Training is not counted as part of your CGPA. The detail assessment for the marks:

  • Company Supervisor Evaluation (35%)
    • The company supervisor will complete the form based on your performance and the supervisor's observation.
  • Presentation Evaluation (30%)
    • The presentation panels will evaluate your presentation based on your experience during your training. Presentation will take place the following after you complete your training. Presentation also can take place during visitation during the last three weeks of you training.

  • Report Evaluation (35%)
    • Report must be submitted a week after the presentation. The report evaluation is done by the lecturer in charge.


 

Visitation

A lecturer may come and visit the students at the work place during the last 4 weeks.


 

Report and Presentation

One week after the training ends, students are required to submit a report and there will be a presentation one week after that.
